PRIVATE CHARTER BUS SERVICE

Our College operates a private charter bus service through Horizons West, providing affordable and dependable transport for both Primary and Secondary students each school day.

CHARTER BUS ROUTES

Three routes currently service the north, east, and south of Perth, covering the following suburbs: Swanbourne, Cottesloe, Mosman Park, North Fremantle, East Fremantle, Floreat, City Beach, Wembley Downs, Scarborough, Doubleview, Woodlands, Churchlands, Wembley, and West Leederville.

This service is available for both Primary and Secondary students.

TICKETING AND PAYMENT

Tickets are priced at $2.50 per journey and are purchased online through the Horizons West e-ticketing system, linked directly to your child's SmartRider Card.

GETTING STARTED

To register for the charter bus service:

  1. Visit horizonswest.com.au/eticketing.
  2. Sign up for e-ticketing and register each student using their first name, last name and unique student code (as shown on their SmartRider card).
  3. Upload funds to your account.
  4. Students can then tap on and off the bus using their SmartRider Card.

If a card is forgotten or misplaced, students may provide their name and student code to the driver.

REQUESTING A NEW STOP

Routes are reviewed each school holiday period in response to community feedback. Families wishing to suggest a new stop or adjustment to an existing route are welcome to submit an online request. Please note that all route changes are assessed against safety and efficiency considerations to ensure travel times remain reasonable for all students.

SMARTRIDER CARDS

All students are eligible for a Student SmartRider Card, which is used across a range of College services – including public transport, the Horizons West charter bus, canteen purchases, library borrowing, and campus printing.

Please note that Transperth credit is not transferable to the Horizons West charter bus service. Funds for each service must be added separately.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Travelling via Transperth

John XXIII College is accessible via Transperth's integrated bus and train network. The nearest train station is Claremont Station. Several bus routes connect Claremont Station to the College.

CYCLING TO SCHOOL

Students are encouraged to ride to school as a healthy, sustainable travel option and secure bike shelters are available on campus.

PARKING ON CAMPUS

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

The safety of students and the wellbeing of the surrounding neighbourhood are central to how the College manages traffic and parking. Families are asked to follow the guidelines below to help maintain a safe and orderly environment at the start and end of each school day.

  • Use designated zones: Please use only the clearly marked drop‑off and pick‑up zones around campus.
  • Park in allocated areas: When parking, use marked visitors’ parking bays only. Avoid double parking or stopping in unauthorised areas, especially near Graylands Campus and Montgomery House.
  • Drive‑through options: Families collecting students are encouraged to use the Primary and Secondary drive‑through facilities to help reduce congestion and improve pedestrian safety.

STAFF PARKING

Two car parks are reserved for staff use:

  • near the St Louis Sports Centre (accessible via John XXIII Avenue)
  • A Block car park (accessible via Heritage Lane)

STUDENT PARKING

Students with permission to drive to school must use the student car park at the east end of the College playing fields, accessed via John XXIII Avenue.

VISITOR AND CLERGY PARKING

Designated visitor and clergy bays are located in the main car park, accessible via John XXIII Avenue. Visitors are asked to park only in marked bays.

UNIFORM SHOP PARKING

Families visiting the Uniform Shop may use the short-stay bays in the Loop car park, accessed via Mooro Drive.

PARENT PARKING, DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP ZONES

Pre-Kindy, Kindergarten and Pre-Primary

  • Families may use the Early Years car park (off John XXIII Avenue) for drop-off and collection.
  • Overflow parking is available in the main car park (off John XXIII Avenue) and the Loop car park (off Mooro Drive).
  • Please note: the Early Years car park is reserved for Early Years families only.

Years 1 to 6

  • Families are encouraged to use the Loop (off Mooro Drive), which is staffed to help maintain smooth traffic flow.
  • Display your surname sign on the car dashboard.
  • Drive to the bottom of the loop before stopping.
  • Ensure students enter and exit via the left (passenger) side of the vehicle.
  • Please remain in your vehicle; staff will assist students safely.
  • Families may request additional drive-through labels by contacting

  • Alternatively, families with both Primary and Secondary students may use the Kiss ‘n’ Drive Loop off John XXIII Avenue.
  • Parents who prefer to park and walk may use the main car park (John XXIII Avenue) or the Loop car park (Mooro Drive).

Years 7 to 12

  • Secondary school families should use the main car park or Kiss ‘n’ Drive Loop off John XXIII Avenue.

COLLEGE EVENTS PARKING

For major College events, the playing fields may be opened for overflow parking. Follow directions from the College staff and observe the temporary signage on the day.

SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY

When driving near the College:

  • Observe the 40km/h school zone speed limit.
  • Use only designated College car parks.
  • Follow all traffic and parking signs.
  • Yield to pedestrians, especially near driveways and crossings.
  • Refrain from double-parking or illegal parking.
  • Park only in clearly marked bays on campus.
