We are a warm, connected and caring community.
Parents are central to our community, working in partnership with staff to create a nurturing, connected and vibrant College environment. Our parents generously volunteer their time, skills and expertise, enriching the fabric of life at John XXIII.
Through the Parents' Association and its liaisons, parents coordinate social, pastoral and volunteer activities, building strong relationships within and across year groups.
Parent volunteers are integral to College events – from hospitality to special celebrations and fundraising – creating meaningful opportunities for connection and support.
Many parents share their professional expertise, assist with co-curricular programs, and offer practical help to families in need, answering the Ignatian call to serve others.
Parents also contribute to the governance of the College, sitting on committees and the College Council. Their expertise and perspectives help guide strategic planning, finance, risk management, and property and planning, ensuring the College continues to grow and flourish in its mission.
Through these many avenues, parents at John XXIII College are leaders, role models and valued members of a caring, connected community.
‘John XXIII College is a place where lifelong friendships are made, families and staff work in partnership, and every member is supported to belong, grow and contribute to something greater than themselves.’
Every parent and guardian is automatically a member, and together they play an important role in shaping the College's welcoming, inclusive spirit.
The Association's primary purpose is to partner with the College in the education and support of students, and to strengthen the values of our community, grounded in the Ignatian tradition.
Parents' Association meetings are held each term and are open to all parents and staff. These meetings are a valuable forum for parents to connect, stay informed, and actively participate in decisions about College initiatives and funding priorities.
The Association provides essential pastoral and financial support, allocating funds raised through the parent levy to projects and resources that benefit students across all year levels. Funding proposals are considered and voted on by the parent community, ensuring transparency and shared responsibility.
Social connection is a key focus, with the Parents' Association Liaison (PAL) team coordinating year group events, welcoming new families, and building strong networks of support.
The Association also supports parent education through the Inspire program and pastoral care through Roncalli Care, so that families are supported in times of need.
The Parents' Association welcomes all parents and guardians as members. For general enquiries, suggestions, or to share ideas for our College community, contact the committee directly at parentsassociation@johnxxiii.edu.au.
Committee members are also available at each term meeting. Meeting dates and times are published in the College calendar and newsletter.
The Parents' Association provides funding for initiatives that benefit students and enhance College life. Both parents and staff are warmly encouraged to submit proposals.
For questions about the process, please contact parentsassociation@johnxxiii.edu.au.
The Parents' Association looks forward to hearing from you and supporting new initiatives that strengthen our community.
Each year group has dedicated Parent Liaisons who build connections between families, support communication, and coordinate year-level events. They play a key role in welcoming new families and ensuring everyone feels at home from the start.
The Inspire program, funded by the Parents’ Association, offers a series of talks and workshops on topics relevant to raising and supporting young people today. Sessions cover areas such as mental health, cybersafety, resilience, and relationships, providing practical tools and a space for parents to learn and connect with one another.
Friends of Music and Drama (FOMAD) is a parent network that supports our College’s thriving arts programs. Parents assist with everything from front-of-house hospitality at performances to costume maintenance and event catering, ensuring our students’ creative talents are celebrated and showcased with care.
Roncalli Care is a parent-led initiative that embodies our Ignatian values of compassion and service. Named after Pope John XXIII (Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli), this group of parent volunteers provides practical and pastoral support to College families experiencing hardship, illness, or loss.
