JOHN XXIII COLLEGE Netball Club

Participation. Development. Excellence.

WELCOME TO

THE JOHN XXIII COLLEGE NETBALL CLUB

The John XXIII College Netball Club is one of the largest netball clubs in Western Australia. Open to students from Years 2 through to Year 12, as well as College alumni, the Club is built on an inclusive philosophy that places equal value on participation and performance. We encourage students to enjoy the game, build their skills, and remain competitive, all within a supportive environment.

Every coach at the Club has completed the Netball WA Coaching Foundation course, meaning that regardless of which team a player is selected for, they receive quality instruction from their very first training session. Whether a student is stepping onto a netball court for the first time or aiming for a higher division, there is a place for them here.

WHY NETBALL?

Netball is a fast-paced, dynamic sport that builds physical fitness, spatial awareness, and sharp decision-making – all while demanding real teamwork and communication. At John XXIII College, the Club gives students the opportunity to form friendships across year groups, grow in confidence on and off the court, and experience the rewards that come with commitment to a team.

TRAINING

Training takes place at John XXIII College with sessions tailored by age group to ensure players are developing at the right level.

  • Regular training sessions held on campus
  • Focus on skill-building, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership
  • Pathways for players to progress to higher divisions and representative teams

COMPETITION

The Club competes through the Perth Netball Association (PNA), with games held across the winter season at Matthew’s Netball Centre. Primary students in Years 2 and 3 play on Friday afternoons in the NetSetGo program, while students in Years 4 to 12 compete on Saturdays. Teams are organised by year group for game day, giving students the experience of competing alongside their peers throughout the season.

For fixtures, game times, and competition updates, parents are encouraged to download the NetballHQ App, which provides the easiest access to all fixtures and relevant information.

GRADING

Grading is compulsory for all registered players in Years 5 to 12. This process ensures every student is placed in a team that offers the right level of challenge and genuine opportunity for improvement. Players are assessed during grading sessions held prior to the season, with team selections communicated before competition begins.
