Our canteen, proudly operated in partnership with Chartwells, offers a wide variety of fresh, healthy and satisfying meals prepared on campus each day.

CHARTWELL’S FOOD PHILOSOPHY

Quality food, thoughtfully prepared.

Chartwells menus are guided by nutritional principles developed in consultation with Food and Nutrition Australia, with a focus on:

  • balanced nutrition using whole, quality ingredients
  • fresh on-site preparation with seasonal produce
  • reduced added sugar and considered portioning
  • a broad variety of flavours to maintain genuine appeal
  • clear allergen information and dietary accommodation

WHAT’S ON THE MENU

Students can choose from a range of freshly prepared options each day, including:

  • sandwiches, wraps, salads and grain bowls
  • hot meals drawing on both global and familiar flavours
  • house-baked items
  • grab-and-go snacks including fruit pots, yoghurts, dips and vegetables
  • seasonal specials and rotating menu features

MEET CHEF HESH DAUD

Our Chartwells chef, Hesh Daud, brings more than 15 years of culinary experience from fine dining establishments across the United Kingdom and Europe. Committed to the belief that quality food makes a genuine difference in young people's lives, Hesh approaches each day's menu with both professional rigour and real care for the students he serves.

ORDERING AND PAYMENT

PRIMARY STUDENTS

All lunch orders must be placed online via Flexischools, accessible through the Flexischools app or website. Primary students are not able to purchase food directly from the canteen during recess and lunch.

SECONDARY STUDENTS

Secondary students may pre-order online or purchase directly from the canteen during breakfast, recess and lunch. Payment can be made using a Smartrider card linked to a Flexischools account, or by debit card.

GETTING STARTED WITH FLEXISCHOOLS

Follow these steps to register and begin placing orders:

  1. Download the Flexischools app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Click 'Sign Up' and enter your email to create an account
  3. Check your inbox and click the link to verify your email
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration
  5. Add your student(s) via Profile > Students > Add new
  6. Link your child's student card under Student ID
  7. Top up your wallet by selecting Wallet > Top-Up, then choose your payment method

  • Breakfast: 8:00am to 8:45am
  • Recess: 10:40am to 11:00am
  • Lunch: 12:50pm to 1:30pm​

ALLERGY AWARE

John XXIII College is an allergy-aware school. Clear allergen information is provided for all menu items. Families with specific dietary concerns are encouraged to contact the canteen directly.
