Practical sustainability through our Sustainable School Shop partnership.
Through our partnership with Sustainable School Shop, families can buy and sell second-hand uniforms, textbooks, calculators, musical instruments, sports equipment and more – reducing waste and saving money.
This partnership is a direct expression of our commitment to sustainability, as articulated in Pope Francis' Laudato Si'. Caring for the earth is a moral imperative and a core part of our mission as a Catholic school. Through responsible stewardship, we are building a culture in which students, staff, and families work together to protect our planet for future generations.
The Sustainable School Shop operates through an easy-to-navigate online platform, preloaded with items specific to John XXIII College. Families can list items for sale or browse what is available at any time. By choosing to reuse and recycle, families reduce their costs, minimise landfill, and contribute to a culture of shared responsibility within our College community.
Suggested pricing
To help sellers price items fairly, we recommend the following guide based on condition:
If you have uniforms your child has outgrown, please ensure they are freshly laundered and in good repair – items requiring mending or further laundering cannot be accepted.
To donate, complete the second-hand uniform sales form and include it with your uniforms when you drop them in.
For more information please visit the Uniform Shop or contact our friendly team at uniformshop@johnxxiii.edu.au or 9383 0426.
Each year, John XXIII College hosts a second-hand book sale in the Chisholm Pavilion – a practical opportunity for families to buy, sell, or exchange textbooks ahead of the new school year. There are no set prices; families negotiate directly, with most books changing hands at approximately half the new price. The College does not charge commission on sales.
Bring your book list for the most efficient experience.
For families unable to attend, second-hand textbooks can be sourced or listed at any time through the Sustainable School Shop. Details of the next sale, including dates and how to get involved, are published in the College newsletter.
