ACC A-Division Swimming Carnival

On Wednesday, 25 March, John XXIII College took on the best of the best at the ACC A-Division Swimming Carnival – one of the most anticipated events on our sporting calendar. The atmosphere was electric, with our students displaying pride, passion and unwavering support for one another throughout the day.

Exceptional performances and team spirit

The standard of competition was outstanding, with many of our swimmers achieving personal bests – a reflection of their dedication and months of preparation. John XXIII College finished as Runner Up Champions for 2026, placing second overall in a thrilling contest with Sacred Heart College, who took out the win this year. This marks the 10th consecutive year that our College has finished in the top two positions, an extraordinary achievement and a source of immense pride for our community.

Celebrating individual and team achievements

Congratulations to our College Sport Captains, Molly Pekin and Dominic Jeffery, and 2026 Swimming Captains, Tighe O'Toole and Angelina Smythe, for their exemplary leadership and encouragement. Their example inspired the team to give their all in every race.

Special mention to the following students who placed in the top 5 for their age group – an incredible accomplishment against the best swimmers in A-Division:

  • u/16 girls: Grace Czajko – 2nd
  • u/19 girls: Sasha Pallis – 5th
  • u/13 boys: Samuel Bessant – 2nd
  • u/14 boys: Hugo Smith – equal 4th
  • u/17 boys: George Galvin – 3rd
  • u/19 boys: Tighe O'Toole – 3rd

A huge congratulations to our u/19 girls relay team – Sasha Pallis, Poppy Finucane, Kayla Browne and Angelina Smythe – who broke the 4x50m freestyle relay record with an impressive time of 1.54.59.

Thank you to our dedicated coaches for their commitment and expertise in preparing the team since the start of the term. Their guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in our ongoing success.

We are extremely proud of our students for their sportsmanship, resilience and the spirit they brought to every race. We look forward to contesting the title again next year and continuing our tradition of excellence in swimming.
