Note: Year 1 and 2 students may only choose Piano. Guitar is only available as an Acoustic option for students in Year 3-6. Percussion available from Years 5 and above. Voice available from Year 6.

Cost Summary

Cost of Lessons: $45 = (30 minutes)
(Extended lessons are available to senior students on request and will be calculated accordingly)
Music Record Book: Included in lesson fees
Number of lessons: 36 per year (18 per semester). For Year 12 Year it's 28 lessons
Payment: In advance with College fees
Instrument Hire: In advance with College fees ($255 per year)

Conditions of Enrolment

  • Enrolment in instrumental music lessons is a commitment for at least one whole semester (2 terms, 18 lessons).
  • All students enrolled in music lessons at the College must participate in at least  one College Band/Orchestra/Choir relevant to their instrument, when deemed ready by their tutor.
  • Music lessons are timetabled during the day by the instrumental music tutor and  priority is given to Year 12 students for recess, lunch and after school timeslots.
  • Notice must be given directly to the tutor by 3pm the day prior to the lesson if a child is absent as a result of sickness. A lesson will then be made up if possible.
  • Notice must be given directly to the tutor one week before the lesson if a child is absent due to any other reason. A lesson will then be made up if possible.
  • Lessons missed due to absences deemed invalid by the College (eg. family holiday/vacation) will not be made up or refunded.
  • Missed lessons (without sufficient notice) or withdrawal without the mandatory notice, will result in complete loss of fees (no refund).
  • Instruments hired from the College must be maintained and returned in their original condition. Instruments are hired out, for one year only, at a cost of $255. Payment for hire will be charged in advance with College fees.
  • Students are responsible for the security of their own instrument at all times, whether hired or privately owned. At the College, instruments must be stored in the instrument storeroom located in the Performing Arts Centre.
  • Lesson enrolments are automatically rolled over for the following year/semester unless a ‘Notice of Intent to Withdraw from Music Lessons’ form is received.
  • ‘Notice of Intent to Withdraw from Instrumental Lessons’ forms must be completed and returned to the Music Office before the end of Week 1 (for first semester withdrawals) or Week 17 (for second semester withdrawals). Withdrawal from lessons after these deadlines will result in a loss of fees paid. Changing tutor mid- semester is bound by the same policies.
