Primary

Pre-Kindergarten - Year 6

At John XXIII College Primary School we offer high quality education for children from the age of three onwards.

Primary education focuses on the development of knowledge, skills and understanding - academic, physical, emotional, social and spiritual. Every endeavour is made to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each student and in turn, each student is encouraged to develop to their full potential. A student learns best when the atmosphere is friendly and supportive, and at the same time, challenging.

At John XXIII College, we believe that our children are unique individuals, made in the image and likeness of our most wonderful God. This belief drives our philosophy that a child's opportunity to learn must be respected and valued at all times. The Primary staff use teaching and learning strategies that align with a developmental approach. In other words, we respect and value that children learn in different ways and spend time getting to know our students well and identifying their particular strengths and weaknesses, so that we can best meet their needs.

Our Primary School has two classes at each Year level. Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classes are based in our purpose built Early Companions Centre. Each Kindergarten class has 25 students while in Pre-Primary there are 28 students. In the Early Years all teaching staff are specialised Early Childhood Educators. In the Junior grades (Years 1 to 3), classes are 28 students per teacher while in the upper grades (Years 4 to 6), there are 30 students per teacher.

A 3 year old Pre-Kindergarten program is also offered.
