Science

Science studies at JohnXXIII College provide the full range of experiences required of a balanced secondary education. All science courses from Years 8 to Year 12 emphasise day-to-day relevance while systematically developing students' scientific understanding, skills and attitudes.

Year 7 Science

Students receive two lessons per week. The subjects followed are:

  • Biological Sciences
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Earth and Space Science
  • Scientific Inquiry Skills

Years 11 and 12 Sciences

The Years 11 and 12 students receive nine lessons of science per fortnight. The following courses are studied at ATAR level, Units 1 & 2, in Year 11 and ATAR level, Units 3 & 4, in Year 12:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Human Biology
  • Physics

Marine and Maritime Studies General is also offered as a combined Year 11/12 course.

  • Year 11 Biology, Year 11 Chemistry, Year 11 Human Biology, Year 11 Physics
  • Year 12 Integrated Science, Year 12 Biology, Year 12 Chemistry, Year 12 Human Biology, Year 12 Physics
