Overview
Students refine their skills in performing, creating, composing and responding to Music through the study of complex repertoire. They develop skills and knowledge needed to analyse and respond to how social, cultural and historical factors shape the role of music in society.

Assessments
There are four types of assessment
Performance: Solo Performance 40% | Studies/Sight Reading/Memorisation 10%
Aural: 15%
Cultural and Historical Analysis: Set works Test 10% | Research Project: 5%
Theory and Composition: Music Skills Test 5% | Composition Assignment: 5%
Written Examination- Aural, Cultural and Historical Perspectives and Composition and Theory: 15%
Reporting
A brief interim report on class work, behaviour and participation will be issued towards the end of Term 1. The achievement for the unit will be reported as a College A - E grade as well as a percentage mark and a written examination mark. In addition, the student's approach to class work and behaviour will be reported via the usual key performance indicators.
Student Expectations/Homework
It is expected that students will be practising their instrument for a minimum of 60 minutes per day. Revision and a summary of the day's lessons is essential. Students will be given tasks to complete in order to improve their skills for assessment tasks. Research and composition assignments are completed at home. Students are expected to complete six timed extended response questions throughout the course of the year.
