Year 9 Fitness for Health


Fitness for Health at John XXIII College is an elective unit offered to Year 9 students. The course provides a basic pathway towards the Introduction to Physical Education Studies and Outdoor Education in Year 10.

The principal aim of the Fitness for Health course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and motivation to pursue and maintain healthy habits towards lifelong participation in physical fitness activities.

The benefits of an active lifestyle are emphasised through the development of knowledge and skills that enable students to use community resources for activities that provide enjoyment, socialisation and recreation.

Student Expectations

Students are expected to be organised with the correct equipment/resources for every lesson.

Fitness for Health is largely a practical based module and as such students must be self-motivated and display respectful interactions when engaging with fellow class members and staff. Safe practice is also a key factor for all students participating in the course.
