Around the Primary

Ho, ho, ho, how many sleeps until Christmas? Even though these weeks leading up to Christmas soon get filled with end of year parties and preparations, we are trying to use this time to help the students prepare their hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This week some Year Four students have really got into the importance of the Spirit of Christmas by running a Christmas raffle in the Primary school. The funds raised will be used to buy food vouchers to help ease the burden that some families feel at this time of year.

A big thank you for dropping off non-perishable food items for St Vinnies. It is a really simple and useful way to make a big difference to lives of others.

We encourage the idea to give to others in this festive season; however, we request that no food treats be attached to Christmas cards that children distribute to their class mates.

Last night we welcomed parents to the Pre Primary Information for 2017. All families received the new handbook for Pre Primary to provide important practical information around policy and procedure. This morning we introduced children and families to their Kindergarten rooms for 2017. The Early Companions Centre was buzzing with anticipation, exploration and discovery!

On a beautiful warm evening this week we gathered together for the annual Primary Soiree in the Primary Amphitheatre. We enjoyed performances from Year 5 and 6 Bands, Wanju Voices, Primary Singers, String Orchestra, Mini Minors, Junior Guitar Ensemble and the Secondary Singers - Barbershop. It was wonderful to see many Primary students involved in the Music program and we look forward to enjoying their progress over the years ahead. Special thanks to Ms Alexander, Mr Cross and all instrumental tutors for preparing our Primary musicians so well for their performances.

It has been another productive and work-filled week for everyone at John XXIII. Today Year 2G led us in a beautiful Prayer Celebration and reminded us that this Sunday marks the beginning of Advent. Let's all try to enrich the children with the real meaning of Advent and Christmas.

Kind regards
