Year 7 Transition

Congratulations to Mikayla Bargh (7.2) and Anastasia Beasley (7.4) for their selection for roles in the Wizard of Oz production for their out of school performing arts school. Mikayla will play the role of Dorothy and Anastasia will take on the Wicked Witch role. We commend the girls for the work they have been doing to master their lines so they are ready for the production on 22 and 23 September.

Service Learning

Homerooms are thoroughly enjoying the Service Learning opportunities.

From Homeroom 7.6:

Mercy Care: While at Mercy Care, 7.6 learnt lots of different skills. We talked to all the residents and while some were not well we all had a good time and were able to share some of our stories. The residents showed us that with a little bit of care goes a long way in making them happy. We found this to be a good chance to give back to the community through our service learning in a way that helped others instead of always being focused on our own lives. (Homeroom report)

Coles Vouchers: A big thank you to all people who helped 7.6 with their voucher collection. As a College we were able to raise 15,460 vouchers for a local Catholic Primary school with many refugee students. 7.6 have counted collected and organised everything to get these vouchers over a short period of time. It has been a massive collaborative effort and we would just like to thank everyone for their support. (Homeroom report)

From Homeroom 7.5:

Lisle Village: On Thursday the 23rd of August, the Year 7.5 students visited Lisle Village as a part of Service Learning. Lisle Village is a retirement home in Mount Claremont. When we got there, we showed the talent from our class by performing a quick concert which involved singing and musical instruments. We also offered afternoon tea which the students had prepared themselves. We all enjoyed talking to the residents and shared what is occurring at the College and our lives. The residents really enjoyed our performances and our conversations. It was a great experience. (Campbell O'Rourke and Kate Alvarez)

Year 7 Social

We look forward to sharing with the students their "Social" evening next Thursday, 6 September. The Year 7 Homeroom Leaders have enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in making suggestions for themes and play lists.

Please encourage students to consider appropriate dress for this occasion.

At the end of an evening re-living our 80s we will all appreciate being able to get home to our families. Please be punctual for the 9:00pm pick up time.

School Uniform

Our Year 7 students continue to be commended for their smart presentation in the winter uniform. However we continue to have a number of Uniform Digressions each day. Your ongoing support of pride in personal presentation is appreciated. The following link provides a reminder of the Uniform requirements.

  1. A special Open Afternoon will be held at John XXIII College, in the Osborne Room, on Thursday, 27 September, to display the Presenting to the World presentations to our school community.
  1. An informal parent meeting to investigate how to make the most out of SIMON will take place on Monday, 10 September at 3:30 - 5:00 in the Osborne Room. Tea and coffee will be served.
