To those of you unfortunate to miss it, last Saturday was the first regatta of the girl's rowing season. Beautiful weather brought out the best competition. It was St Hilda's regatta and lots of people came out.

John XXIII College generally had good day out. The open girls had an equipment failure so unfortunately finished at the back of the field. However we managed to repair the boats and things got decidedly better.

The Year 9 quad managed a valiant second missing out by the slimmest of margins. Sophie Minissale equally impressive came second in the Year 9 A sculls. Claire Knight screamed home for a strong win buoyed on by the vocal supporters of John XXIII College.

Other impressive results were the Year 10 girls, with Arabelle O'Rourke coming second in the Year 10 A Scull and Caitlin Drage 1st in the Year 10 B Scull.

All in all a good first day out. The coach Dean Steadman was quoted as saying "This is the best start to the season we have had in a number of years and I am very excited about our season".
