Around the Primary

Dear Parents

We have had a great start to the new term. The children and staff have returned ready and refreshed for the action packed weeks ahead.

Today we welcomed many Grandparents to the Primary School to visit classrooms and to enjoy a picnic lunch with their grandchildren. Our special visitors were entertained by the Primary Singers, Wanju Singers and the Year 5 and 6 Bands. I hope all Grandparents enjoyed their time at school and we thank them for providing love and support to their delightful grandchildren.

It is about this time of year when some parents start to wonder about who will be teaching their children next year. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that all teachers at John XXIII College are professional and of an excellent standard. Children will receive a high quality of education no matter which class they are placed in for the new school year. We spend a lot of time and give great consideration to the placement of children. Consideration for placement is made using the following criteria:

  • academic ability
  • friendships
  • gender balance
  • behaviour
  • special needs

Every effort is made to place children where it is felt they will have the greatest opportunity to succeed. I ask you to trust that the class your child is going to next year is one in which they will thrive. Parents are welcome to contact me about their child's placement if they have any specific concerns. Parents can feel confident that their children will always be in good hands and receive an excellent education.

We hope many parents will be able to come along to our Masses, Assemblies and other special events during the term. Please check our Term 4 Calendar for details.
