Vietnam Pilgrimage 2012

The Vietnam Pilgrims and parents were invited to the Ebeling's beautiful home recently to thank Jo McLoughlin, Cameron Tremayne and me for chaperoning the Pilgrims to Vietnam in October. It was a great night made even more special with the presentation of hard copy books. A wonderful pictorial history and reminder of the orphanages and people we assisted in Ho Chi Minh City. Thanks to Dieter and Bridget Ebeling for their wonderful hospitality.

Fundraising

Sixty Vietnam Pilgrims (2012), parents, teachers, friends and supporters attended a lunch this weekend to raise funds for LVAP (The Loreto Vietnam Australia Program). It was organised by Jo Islip and Peter and Miren Hary. Many donations were made in addition to the proceeds from the luncheon. The funds will be transferred to the LVAP to purchase books for a new library for the disabled. It was a great way to network with the Nam Fam (Vietnam Pilgrims), fifteen Year 11 students preparing for their last week this year at John XXIII College. Sr Trish sent a thank you note quoting "I can't thank you enough... good people that you are - with a vision of outreach and generosity".

Rest in Peace

David Hurford-Jones (Class 1950) died peacefully after a long and debilitating illness on 17 November 2012, in Devon, England. May he rest in peace.

"David graduated from Duntroon Military College in 1954 and then transferred to the Gloucestershire Regiment in the British Army." Further information may be found on page 31 'To Learn and To Serve'. Thank you to Phil Burns (Class 1950) for passing on this sad message.

The Piggy Savings App

My name is Alana Willis (nee Brooks) (Class 1997). Usually, I am an Interior Stylist, however this year I have turned my hand to app development. An entrepreneur at heart, now I can say I'm an app-reneur! My first app, with many more to come, is 'The Piggy' and it's available for download from the App Store now for iPhone, iPod & iPad. It will teach kids how to save, and the effects of adding, and taking cash from their piggy bank will make to their savings goal. There are cute piggy games and personalities which kids and adults alike will get a kick out of.

Thanks for your support!
