Astronomy Club

Last Thursday evening the JTC Astronomy Club met for the first time this year. They will meet at 7pm on the College Oval on Friday evening this week. All are welcome. Eight gifted students from our Magis program are enrolling in the SPIRIT program at UWA during the April holidays. This will give them access to the University's electronic telescope and thus a series of fascinating science activities through the Astronomy Club.

Talented Young Writers

This year two of our talented young writers from Year 8, Aoife Whelan and Georgia Williams, are joining talented Year 10 writers Sophie Minissale and Mahala Longley in the Talented Writers' Programme run by the Fremantle Literature Centre. It will be exciting to hear how they go over the course of the year. The program runs annually, with the students following it through to Year 12.

Chess Club

Chess Club met on Thursday at lunch time in Area 2 of the Library and will now meet weekly. All students from Years 7 to 12 are welcome. Mr Mazur and Mrs Lucas are running the Club and are looking for new faces to join.

Our Magimation Club is also running weekly now. All Year 8 students are welcome. The group meet on Friday in Area 2 of the Library at lunchtime. Please contact Mrs Truscott if you have any queries.

Philosophy Club

The College Philosophy Club meets at lunchtime on Fridays in X10. All students from Years 7 to 12 are welcome. This year we will continue to explore complex questions. We will also prepare a team for the Hale Philosothon later in the year.

This week the Lego Club for students from Years 5 to 7 met on Wednesday after school. An enthusiastic group of students worked on a project to create a car. Each week students will work on a different challenge. The responses to the challenges are showcased in the entrance to the Library. Congratulations to our inaugural group on their wonderful constructions. All students from Years 5 to 7 are welcome. (Pictured: Declan Carroll working intently)
