Sustainability Award

Congratulations to Peter Dwyer on winning 2013 Sustainability Award. This award is given to a Year 12 student who intends to pursue an aspect of Environmental Studies and/or Sustainability at Tertiary Level that will ultimately improve the world we live in.

Peter hopes to study urban planning or Landscape architecture at UWA next year. The value of the Sustainability Award is $500 made available through the work of Dr Margaret Yoon. We hope this monetary award will help Peter kick-start his Sustainable studies next year. We also hope that Peter will return to the College one day to enrich our understanding and practice of sustainable living. We wish Peter the very best of luck!

National Water Week

Dedicated to raising community awareness about current and future water issues, this year National Water Week will be held from October 20-26th.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013, this year's National Water Week (NWW) theme is Livable Communities, focusing on the importance of livable communities on a national scale, in which sustainable water management is a key component.

The Water Corporation wants to ensure that we can provide a sustainable water supply for WA in the face of strong state growth and dwindling dam inflows. They plan to do this by becoming climate resilient. This requires a balance of reducing water use, increasing the amount of water we recycle, and developing new water sources such as desalination and groundwater replenishment.

Sustainability Captains

Thank you to our wonderful Sustainability Captains for 2013, Sophie Monisse and Kieran Panizza. They had a very busy and productive year working on Sustainability projects within the College. We wish them the very best of luck in all their future after John XXIII College.
