NAS (Northern Associated School) Sport
Next week we have our NAS summer sport finals on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Senior students have their finals on Monday. This is a change from the usual Wednesday. The change was made to accomodate other NAS schools with the Year 12 retreats. This also means the Year 7's will change from Monday to Wednesday. A finals fixture schedule is available on the College website. Thank you to all students for their commitment in representing the College throughout Term 1. Results for Term 1 can be viewed via the following link. Term 2 NAS nominations are being taken at lunch until the end of term for winter NAS.

ACC Swimming Carnival - Wednesday 25th March
A magnificent team effort saw John XXIII College perform brilliantly at the ACC 'A' division carnival at HBF stadium on Wednesday 25th March. For the last few years John XXIII College has been going through the process of promotion after winning 'B' division. After winning 'B' division last year it was a fantastic effort by the students involved to finish 4th overall, maintaining our position in 'A' division for 2016. The commitment from all students throughout the day was wonderful to witness, as they showed character and good team spirit. As ever it is always difficult to single out individual students in a team of over 100 students. However, we did have some excellent individual performance that cannot be overlooked:

  • Michael Low 3rd overall male Under 14
  • Drew Lilleyman 4th overall male Under 15
  • Sian Munks 4th overall female Under 16
  • Beatrice Tay 2nd overall female Under 17

Sian also set a new ACC record for the 50m Butterfly with a time of 29.18 seconds. Well done Sian.

Thanks must also go to the staff involved with College swimming in 2015: Daniel Platts, Sarah den Haan and Jemma Fleay. Their commitment to early morning trainings is appreciated. They also assisted our ex-student coaches, Kate Olver, Eleanor Ferguson and Adelaide Garland, who trained students to perform at an impressive level on race day.

Congratulations again to all involved in the team for their performance on the day. It was great reward for the efforts by all. I look forward to the swimming season beginning again with training during Term 4 in preparation for the 2016 swimming season.
