Primary

Dear Parents,

Today our students from Year 4B prepared our first assembly item for the year. Congratulations to our fantastic fours and Miss Nish. It was wonderful to see them showcase all the wonderful learning that has been going on so far this year.

Congratulations to our John XXIII Merit Award Recipients

Swimming training for Years 3-6 students has been in full swing after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. The students have been training hard so that they can perform to their personal best at our Twilight Carnival next Thursday 5th March at 5.30pm sharp. We hope all parents will join us at Claremont Pools.

Just a reminder, all classses from PP - 6 will start at 11am on Friday 6th March.

PLEASE NOTE: The Friday PreKindy session will operate from 9am to 11.30am.

Our Parents' Association had their first meeting this week which was fairly well attended. They have kindly agreed to contribute $10,000 towards the purchase of a piano for the Primary School and also pay for the hiring of electronic timing equipment for our Twilight Swimming Carnival next week and the 3-6 Athletics Carnival later in the year. The Parents' Association next meeting is on Monday 18th May and it would be great to see more Primary parents at this meeting.

The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment of all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students will be assessed in language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation), writing reading and numeracy.

The tests are scheduled for the morning of Tuesday 12 May, Wednesday 13 May and Thursday 14 May 2015.

The best way you can help your child prepared for NAPLAN is to reassure your child that NAPLAN tests are just one part of their school program, and to urge them to simply do the best they can do on the day.

Children's NAPLAN resports will be issued in late August. An information brochure will be distributed to all Year 3 and 5 students today.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Kind Regards,

Antoinette De Pinto
