Around the Primary

Dear Parents

On Thursday afternoon, our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students participated in the Interhouse Cross-Country Carnival. We were very fortunate with the weather - perfect for running! Whilst everyone participated to the best of their ability, it was evident we have some very strong runners. The leading place-getters in each race will now have the opportunity to represent our College at the IPSHA carnival next Thursday in Bunbury. Special thanks to Mr Alderman for coaching our students before school and for organising yesterday's great carnival. A big thank you to all the staff and parents who assisted with training and helped on the day. It was lovely to see so many parents and friends on the oval supporting this event.

Mrs Amanda Rimes, Mrs Simonette Chiappini and Mrs Catherine Young will all be leaving us at the end of this term and we thank them for being fantastic staff members. We wish Amanda, Simonette and Catherine and their husbands all the joys of parenthood. In Term 4 we welcome the following staff to the College:

Miss Chiara Di Biaggio to teach Pre Primary B

Miss Jemma Davis to teach Year 1G

Miss Michelle Cipriani to teach Year 3G.

We also farewell Mrs Lorraine Clairs (Education Assistant). We thank Lorraine for her wonderful contribution to the College and wish her well for the future. We welcome Mrs Jo-Anne Bradshaw to work with the Year One classes. We are delighted to have these new staff members join our College community and look forward to them visiting the classrooms over the next few weeks.

Well done to Year 2B who delighted us with an outstanding
assembly item today. They danced and sang in a way that
had us all thoroughly entertained and also recited their lines
so confidently. It is wonderful watching these young children
performing so confidently in front of the whole primary school.
Congratulations to Ms O'Connor for all your hard work.

The countdown is now on for the Year 3 Musical, 'The Peace Star'. Mrs Morell and the children have been working very hard at rehearsals. The children are enjoying performing on the stage and working with our piano accompaniment, Peter Johnston. Next week the children will work with the sound/lighting crew as preparations are finalized for the musical on Tuesday 4th September. Tickets are now on sale in the front office.

This week is Book Week across Australia. A big thank you to Mrs Gardner and the Library team for organising the various Book Week activities, such as, the book sale, book bingo and more. Next Wednesday the children from PrePrimary to Year 6 will enjoy a play, entitled ' And The Winner Is'. It is based on the Book Week theme 'Champions Read', combining a love of reading with exciting physical competition.

We can now look forward to another wonderful week of learning and our celebrations for Father's Day next Friday.

Kind regards

Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary
