Around the Primary

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the new school term!
The staff are looking forward to lots of learning, fun and friendship with your delightful children. As always with the wonderful support and wisdom they receive from both home and school, your children will continue to flourish in so many special ways here at John XXIII College.

Our Term 3 Calendar is attached for your convenience. Please mark the following important events on your family calendar:
Thursday 30 July - Years 3-6 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival
Friday 4 September - Fathers' Day Mass (7.30am)
Tuesday 8 September - Primary Musical (7.00pm)
Friday 11 September - Years 3-6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival (12.40pm start)
Monday 21 September - Primary Open Night (5.00pm start)

This term Miss Di Biaggio (Pre Primary B Teacher), Sensai Aghdasi (Japanese Teacher) and Mrs Roche (Art Teacher) are all enjoying their well-deserved Long Service Leave. As a result we welcome Mrs Murphy (Pre Primary B), Sensai Rowson (Japanese Teacher) and Mrs Blaauw (Art Teacher). We also welcome our new Education Assistants, Miss Rushmere and Mrs Gellard (Year 1) and Ms Worodich (Mary Ward). We extend our best wishes to all new staff members for a very rewarding association with our school.

After 8 years of dedicated service to our Primary community, Mrs Philpot will be leaving us at the end of next week. Mrs Philpot will be greatly missed by us all and we wish her every happiness and success on her new career path.

Next week our Years 3 and 5 students will complete the Bishops' Religious Literacy Test. This test is completed by students in all Catholic Schools in WA to assess their knowledge in Religious Education. I'm sure our students will try their very best.

Special thanks to Ashleigh Tudori (6G) and Ben Thomasz (6B) for representing our College at the Opening Mass of the Catholic School Performing Arts Festival. They were great ambassadors for our College.

We have a busy term ahead and next week we commence Founders' Time. We begin our celebrations with a whole school assembly on Friday 31 July to celebrate the Feast of St Ignatius.

I look forward to seeing a huge parent cheer squad at the Interhouse Cross Country Carnival next Thursday afternoon.

Kind regards,
Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary
