Year 7 Transition
NAS Sport

Congratulations to the large number of students who are participating in the Year 7 NAS sports against Chisholm, Sacred Heart, Servite and Newman. The teams representing John XXIII include:
Boys and girls tennis
- Boys and girls basketball
- Boys cricket
- Girls indoor soccer
- Boys and girls beach volleyball
On Monday the first scheduled fixtures were played against Chisholm College. It was pleasing to chat with these students at the end of their games and hear their stories of close games, good sportsmanship and some achievable goals for the next game. These team experiences have been enhanced with the leadership, coaching and team management by Year 11 students and a group of dedicated teachers.
Photo Day
All students should have delivered a brochure with the details of the College Photo Day next Wednesday, 29 February. Please note the ordering and payment details on the brochure.
Ash Wednesday

Year 7 teachers and students gathered for the Ash Wednesday Liturgy early on Wednesday. This liturgy was strongly led by Year 7 readers: David Harms, David Stokes, Madison Korn and Wesley Donovan with Mr Anthony Rock and Ms Simone Preedy placing objects on our prayer focus table to highlight the meaning of the readings. Thank you to the Year 12 Faith and Justice Leaders for praying with us and distributing the ashes. Their modelling of Faith and Justice Leadership is a very powerful role model for the Year 7 students to witness.
Prevention Across the Spectrum
I have received several phone calls seeking clarification of what is meant by "Health Check". When I met with the PAS project team they talked about the height and weight checks to be done at the same times as the questionnaire. Homeroom teachers will be supervising their Homerooms when these processes are underway.
