Around the Primary

Dear Parents

We are now in the first week of Lent. On Wednesday we gathered together to celebrate Mass for Ash Wednesday. Special thanks to Miss Coniglio and Year 6G for preparing our lovely Mass. Thank you to the many parents who joined us on the day and I'm sure you will agree that the behaviour of the students during the Mass was very reverent, even though they do get very excited at the Sign of Peace.

During Lent we are asked to think of, pray for and support others in need. Caritas has provided Project Compassion money boxes for each classroom. We are all encouraged to help others through our donations. The funds will help provide for many families who do not have clean water, food, clothes, shelter or an education.

On behalf of the staff I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to parents for:

  • making sure your children arrive at school on time
  • sending your children to school in the correct uniform
  • reading emails and newsletters
  • providing positive feedback to staff
  • planning to come along to the Primary Swimming Carnival on Thursday 1st March at 5.30pm at Claremont Aquatic Centre.

In addition, a huge number of parents came along to the parent information evenings this week. Thank you for attending and valuing the partnership between home and school to support your children's learning. I'm certain you found the sessions informative and you now have a good understanding of what your children will be covering during the year. As mentioned at the meetings relevant notes will be sent home via email.

Throughout the year we will include an article for parents from psychologist Michael Grose entitled 'Insight' in the newsletter. These articles are very helpful as they provide some insight into assisting parents with their very important role of parenting. Please take the time to read this week's article entitled, 'It's not okay to be away … nor to be late to school'.

Congratulations to the children for wearing their school uniform with pride. Just a reminder, please ensure the children in Years 1 -6 are in their full school uniform (not sports uniform) on photo day, Tuesday 28th February. Kindy G will have their photos taken on Wednesday 29th February.

Kind regards

Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary
