Rowing News
John XXIII College kicked off Boys Rowing season last weekend by hosting our annual sculling regatta at Canning Birdge. The weather looked perfect with clear skies and calm water for a great day of rowing, and the day got underway with the naming of our new quad, the "Julie Elhers", which went out and won the first race of the day. Everyone had a great time and faced some tough competition from Trinity, Bunbury Catholic College, Kelmscott, Swan River and All Saints. Everyone put up a strong fight, but in the end John XXIII won the day with the most winning crews. Congratulations to everyone who competed on the day.
Big thanks to all the parents who made the day possible and for providing the most amazing array of cakes and sandwiches. Also to the Dads who kept everyone well fed with their bacon and egg burgers with added spinach for a healthy touch.
Also thanks to Dean, Courtnee and Maddie who coached us to victory. FInally a huge thanks to Sue, Wayne, Angela and Cath for making the day possible by setting up and running the event. It was great to see all our supporters including Mr Watson and Mr Haines who came down to cheer everyone on.
We wrapped up the day with presentations of medals and by drawing the winners of the wine raffle. Congratulations to the Taylor family who won first prize.
The regatta was a huge success as well as a great introduction for the new Year 8 rowers as to what to expect for the future as well as a reminder of the importance of suncream!
