Girls Rowing Regatta Saturday 16th June at Canning Bridge

L-R: Kate Fletcher and Eleanor Weber

The John XXIII rowers competed in their second regatta of the season at Canning Bridge, on Saturday 16th June 2012. It started out a bit gloomy, but the weather soon cleared and the river was calm and beautiful. The Year 9 and 10 crews represented the College, competing in eight events. All the Year 10 girls showed great skill and competence in all of their events. Eleanor Weber was in top form to take third place in the Year 10A 1000m Single Scull event. Kate Fletcher rowed with determination in the Year 10B 1000m Single Scull event, getting third place. The Year 9 girls are again showing tremendous power and determination in all of their events. Arabelle O'Rourke rowed magnificently to take second place in the Year 9A Single Scull 500m. Ciara Nalty surged forward to first place in the Year 9B Single Scull 500m event.

Our next regatta is on Saturday 30th June, the girls will again compete at Canning Bridge. You are welcome to come down and support the girls and see them in action! Racing is generally between 8.30-11.30am. It's usually a lovely morning down by the Swan River and delicious morning teas are provided by the host School on the day.
