News from the Careers Department

2012 Defence Technical Scholarship (DTS)
Congratulations to Benjamin Graham (Year 11) who was awarded the above scholarship. A fantastic result considering that the Defence received in excess of 2300 applications from students all around Australia. Applicants were required to research the answers to a set of questions about the range of technical trade career options found in the Defence. Benjamin will shortly receive his Scholarship cheque to the value of $2000 and a Certificate acknowledging this Award.

Pricewaterhouse Cooper (PwC) Trainee program
The PwC Trainee program offers Year 12 students interested in studying accounting at university the opportunity to secure employment early with one of their professional services firms. The program enables students to gain practical and commercial experience while completing a Commerce or Business degree majoring in accounting. If students are interested they must contact the Careers Counsellor.

Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) Recruiting
The AAFC is the cadet organization of the Royal Australian Air Force. They train cadets of both sexes between the ages of 13 and 20 in a broad range of areas. Cadets learn about aircraft, flying, bush craft, survival, shooting, sporting activities and parachuting. Many cadets go on to join the Air Force or find a career in civilian aviation. The AAF will be holding an information night for interested students and their parents on the 3 August in Karrakatta or for more information speak to the Careers Counsellor.

Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)
Year 12 students enrolling into the ADFA must remember that it is a dual process and they must also apply to the University of New South Wales via UAC before the end of September.
