Around the Primary

Dear Parents

It is hard to believe we have only four weeks until the end of the term. Parent Interviews begin from 8th April and teachers are looking forward to having valuable conversations with parents. Interviews are a core part of our reporting process to parents and enable both teachers and parents to work in partnership for the benefit of the child. It is important that all parents book an interview time with teachers.

This week the students from Years 3 - 6 visited the 'Sculptures by the Sea'. Our Art Specialist, Mrs Jane Roche was very pleased that the students gained so much from the interactions with the tour guides and workshops. I hope all parent helpers enjoyed the experience as much as our wonderful students. Special thanks to Mrs Roche, staff and parents for all your efforts.

On Tuesday afternoon our swimming squad participated in the IPSHA Swimming Carnival at Newman College. The individual efforts and relay results were amazing. Well done to all our super swimmers - you certainly made us proud. Congratulations to Ella Matthews (Loyola) who broke the record for the 50m Girls Freestyle. This record was set ten years ago and it is the first record that has been broken for a number of years. Fantastic effort Ella!

On Friday, 5th April we will be celebrating Primary House Day. This involves the children participating in activities to learn about the Founders of our College and also taking part in some fun activities in their House groups - namely Campion, Koolyangarra, Loreto, Loyola, St Louis and Ward. On this special day the children are required to wear their House shirt and sports shorts. They will need to bring morning tea and their water bottle. The College will provide a sausage sizzle for lunch and an ice-cream for a treat. All parents are welcome to join us for Mass at 9 am in the Chapel.

A big thank you to Mrs Goss and Year 5B for preparing and presenting today's entertaining assembly item about 'what makes a hero' and well done to all the children who received a certificate. The Year 5's looked great in their costumes and performed confidently in front of a large audience.

We have only one week to go until the most important event in the Church's Calendar - Easter. The children have been learning all about the significant events leading up to Jesus' Resurrection. We hope many parents and friends will be able to join us for our Easter Reflections next week.
