Media Club

The link below will take you to this week's Daily Notices filmed on Tuesday afternoon to be screened in Homeroom on Wednesday. The Media Club are becoming very proficient in producing this weekly event.

All students from Years 7 to 12 are welcome to join the Club which meets every Wednesday at lunchtime in GBLT. Students work on the weekly JTV Live production and also on small creative film pieces.

The College Philosophy Club is preparing for the Hale School Philosothon in Term 4. The topics for this year are:

  • How can I be happy?
  • Do animals have minds?
  • Is it morally worse to kill someone than to let someone die?
  • Should this generation of Germans take responsibility for addressing the evils perpetuated by their grandparents' generation during the Holocaust?

The questions are quite complex philosophically and are generating some intense discussion during Club meetings on Friday. Again, all students from Years 7 to 12 are welcome to attend these meetings.

Magis Workshop Term 4

In Term 4 a small group of our Year 7 and 8 students will join students from Corpus Christi College to work collaboratively on a narrative project over two days and then spend a day in the Art Gallery of Western Australia for our inaugural Philosothon. We have been working across campus to develop this unique extension opportunity. Considerable time has also been spent working with the Art Gallery of Western Australia to develop the Philosothon. The discussion is framed by Howard Gardner's ideas about multiple intelligences. They have been invaluable in the past in providing a scaffold in order to discuss art. This framework has been extended to allow for philosophy to enter into the consideration of the art works. On the day students will work in small groups to explore three art works in the Gallery.
