Around the Primary

Dear Parents

At our first Primary Assembly today we were entertained by our energetic children from Year 3G. Special thanks to Mrs Gardner, Ms Allen and the talented children for organizing this informative and enjoyable assembly about water and sun safety. Congratulations to all the students who received a certificate.

Attendance at school is a critical factor in any child's academic success. Children should attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency. It is impossible to replace the learning that happens on any school day with make-up work. Our teachers put a lot of time into the preparation of each lesson and children should be at school for the entire day. We do understand that children may need to attend medical appointments, speech therapy or occupational therapy sessions throughout the day. However, we would appreciate if extra tutoring could occur out of school hours so that children do not miss valuable lessons on a regular basis.

Thank you for attending the Parent Information evenings, your presence was very much appreciated. I'm certain you found the sessions informative and you now have a good understanding of what your children will be covering during the year. Thanks too to those parents who gave the teachers such positive feedback. Information presented on the night can be found on the College website.

The Year Three to Six students have thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons over the past two weeks. Congratulations to Mr Alderman for coordinating this swimming program. We can now look forward to our Twilight Swimming Carnival on Thursday 6th March at Claremont Pools.

Congratulations must be given to the students for wearing their uniform with pride. Please ensure your children are in their school uniform (not sports uniform) for our Primary photos on Tuesday 25th February. Envelopes for photo day have been handed to each student. Please note that this envelope must be returned on photo day, even if you do not intend to order the photos.

Early Departures, Absences & Late Arrivals
Parents are asked to ensure that they follow the new procedures for students who are late to school and those who are early to leave. If you wish to remove your child from school early, parents are required to sign them out at the front office. Teachers will not be able to release your child unless they have the 'leaver's pass' from the office.

Classroom doors open at 8.35pm and school commences at 8.45am, if your child arrives later than this you will need to sign them in at the front office.

Please remember that students who are continually late to school find it very difficult to settle into a good routine. Please help your children have the best educational start to the school day by getting them to school on time.

If your child is going to be absent please telephone 9383 0401 or email by 8.30am.

Parking, drop off and drive through
I encourage everyone to be particularly courteous, careful and cautious as you use the school car park.

Special Request
Do you pick your children up from the 'loop' in front of the main Administration block?
If so, you need a 'family name card' for your car/s,
If you require a new or an extra name card please email and Mrs Philpot will print a card/s for your family.

Outside supervision is available from 8.15am. No supervision is provided before 8.15am and after 3.35pm. All primary children should be collected by 3.30pm. All primary children not collected by 3.30pm will be required to wait in the main administration block.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Kind regards

Antoinette De Pinto
