Year 11 2B 'Geoggers' visited Alcoa Bauxite Mine (Huntly Park) and the Pinjarra Alumina Refinery on Tuesday 17th September. It was a very productive day and we were blessed with fine weather despite the threatening clouds. Students wrote the 'The Ode to Bauxite Mining' on their way back to College:

We have a duty to rehabilitate the forest fate
About digging, and drilling and to prevent forest killing
BOM systems, weather information, noise dispersal and wind conditions
The conveyor belt goes on and on, and has four long stages,
There's blasting, crushing, trucking, replanting and recycling
Bauxite, alumina and then aluminium , an important part of the human environment.
