For many months, the early alarms, sessions on the water, land training and rowing ergometers have been a part of a weekly ritual. All the hard work has come to an end for our winter rowers with the State Championships over the weekend. We look forward to celebrating the end of the winter rowing season and welcoming the boys 2014/2015 summer season.

We extend an invitation to all winter and summer rowers, their families and coaches to join us in the pavilion for the handover and presentation night on 24th September at 6.30pm in the pavilion.

A reminder to each rowing family to bring two bottles of good wine to donate toward our wine raffle, which will be drawn at the JTC Regatta 8th November, 2014.

On the 12th and 13th of September John XXIII Rowing Club attended the State Championships at Champion Lakes. The weekend was an overall success with stunning, sunny weather making it enjoyable to row. We battled it out against tough competition and managed to get our double of David Wishaw and Evan McAuliffe into the E finals in which they placed fourth. The four, consisting of David Wishaw, Evan McAuliffe, Chad Derecourt and Winston Jenkins did an amazing race in the E division, placing an overall fourth in finals. The three quads entered in both female and male events all came fourth, rowing hard with good technique showing the difficult, strong training we have been doing all season. The singles and doubles finished out hard placing well and trying their best, representing the College proudly. Through injuries, hard competition, broken oars and interesting dancing, John XXIII Rowing Club made an outstanding performance coming home proud after a long weekend!

Please hand in your son's sports cap with your registration formand fees (to the Main Administration) so that it can be embroidered for next year. If you require a new cap, it will be $20 (with 2014/15 details on it) and you can add past years for $5 per year. If you have queries about this please email me before completing your forms. We require all caps for embroidery, registration forms and any monies owing, to be handed in on Registration Night or dropped off at the Main Administration office at the College by Wednesday 10th September at the latest. This will allow time to embroider caps before the Handover Night (Wednesday 24th September) where they will be presented again to the boys. Those who hand their caps in after the deadline may not be able to receive them at Handover and will be charged an additional $22/embroidery.
