Year 7 Transition - Continued
The Christian Service Learning Program aims to:
- Engage students in responsible and challenging actions for the common good.
- Provide students with structured opportunities to grow and learn from their generosity.
- Find God in all people and in all things.
- Build Compassion, Conscience and their Commitment to God through Service.
- Find strength in living the motto "Men and Women for others"
- Provide opportunities for reflection.
All students will be expected to complete their journal, hand it in to their House Coordinator on or before Friday, 7 June. Parents are invited to assist by providing feedback to their sons/daughters and checking that the journal entries are signed off on. Total number of hours will be collected and recorded each year. The total number will be recorded on the student's records at the end of Year 12.
We look forward to our students sharing their experiences and using our regular Ignatian Examen to reflect and give thanks.
Diverse Learning Experiences
Students are being offered a wide range of opportunities to broaden their learning experiences. Across the year we aim to select small groups of students to work with various community groups and experts in particular fields to try new things.
The activities we have on offer this semester have and will include:
Preparing and leading the Year 7 Holy Week liturgy, Ivo Burrum, working with an author-in-residence, philosophy event with other schools, interschool swimming and cross country, preparing and leading the Year 7 Mass, leading assemblies, welcoming and thanking guests to the College, public speaking, Caritas Just Leadership and Earth Carers.
There will be more. I commend the teaching team for providing this exciting diversity to support our learning programs.
