What did we do for World Environment Day?

Some of our Year 8 and Year 9 students enthusiastically gave up most of their lunch time on Friday 3 June to put plants around the Labyrinth area to mark World Environment Day which is traditionally celebrated on 5 June each year. Lending their support were Mrs Negus (Vice Principal), Mr John Cumming (Business Manager) and our College Principal, Mr Robert Henderson. Also present was Mr Neil Van Herk our Sustainability Coordinator. Mr Henderson planted a red grafted Eucalyptus Ficifolia and Mr Cumming planted a Grevillea Oleodis to mark their first year at the College. We hope the winter rains will help all our plants to flourish and add beauty to the Labyrinth area where many can come to pause and find some quiet respite.

Thank You to Mr Peter Worthy (College Chief Gardener) who helped us accomplish this project for World Environment Day and to Ms Catherine Woods for taking the pictures. Mr Worthy described our young gardeners as "a lovely bunch of students. Their manners, enthusiasm and labours are a credit to all."

Mr Henderson planted his Eucalyptus Ficifolia with a little help from our young gardeners David Martino and Oscar Rafiq. Dominic Hampton and Jackson van Schie lovingly gave their Kangaroo Paw a happy home.
