Fantastic First Regatta

Last Saturday, November 10 saw the inaugural JTC All Schools Regatta held at Canning Bridge. The brainchild of our innovative Rowing Coordinator Dean Steadman, this unique event brought together rowers from state, private and denominational schools who relished the opportunity to race against peers they would never normally have a chance to compete with.

Twelve different schools participated, with Kelmscott, All Saints, Southern River, Perth Modern, Santa Maria, Penrhos, MLC, PLC, Mazenod College, Carey Baptist College and Hale all seizing the opportunity to take part. The aim of the day was to get as many crews on the water as possible and the flexibility of the program allowed rowers to race in both single sex and mixed events.

The event was a great success, with rowers and spectators enjoying a day of competition and collegiality in the spring sunshine. It was a wonderful way to end our girls' season and kick off the boys', with JTC registering a convincing regatta win. Special thanks go to Dean Steadman, Sue Hyde and her army of volunteers for bringing it all together.
