Year 11 2B Geography Fieldwork in the Wheat Belt

August 8th 2013 was the wettest August day for Perth in 10 years! The skies were grey, clouds heavy and miserable but not enough to dampen the spirits of our young Year 11 "Geoggers" who claimed that the rain is good for the wheat belt and our gardens! They learnt about the plight of farmers due to climate change, falling market prices and what strategies farmers employ to maintain productivity of their land and stay afloat. Our young Geography students also studied the land-uses in York and took time to "drive" a tractor, pat the Clydesdale horses and got to know each other better all the way home to Perth. It was a good day!
