Maggie Dent Presentation
The presentation by Maggie Dent, arranged by the Parent Association on Tuesday, was wonderfully supported by the John XXIII College community. The response was so great that it exceeded the planned venue (Gonzaga Barry Lecture Theatre) by 100 people. The larger venue of Roncalli Hall was required so those wishing to attend would not miss out.
Maggie Dent was a truly passionate, articulate presenter who successfully combined theory of Resilience Building with real life and humour. Her dynamic approach addressed the 10 Building Blocks of Resilience in Childhood as well as the various needs of our children as they move through the adolescent years.
The flyers summarising some of Maggie's points are attached below.
Thank you to our parents for their support, to our Deputy Principal, Mr Andrew Watson, for introducing the initiative of educational forums and to the Parent Association for acknowledging their value to the College community as a whole.
A special thank you to the staff who gave of their time to attend Maggie's talk as well as to Mr Ric Del Pizzo (Community Relations Officer) and Mr Ben Fry (Audio & Visual Manager) for all their exceptional support in ensuring we could accommodate the attendees and the time needed to adapt to the change in venue.
