From the Principal

Dear Parents

On Saturday the College will "Open" its doors to prospective students and families. While the focus will be on Year 7 2014/2015, there will be an opportunity to also see the new "Early Companions Centre" (Kindy and PrePrimary). Last year the feedback from those who visited our beautiful campus was overwhelmingly positive. They were amazed by the capacity and calibre of our staff and students, the beauty of our environment and the range of learning opportunities offered to our students. I am sure the same degree of enthusiasm and hospitality to our visitors will be shown by our volunteer students, staff and parents.

Interviews are currently being conducted for Year 7 2014 and Kindy 2014. If you have a child in either cohort but you have not yet registered their application it is imperative you do so immediately.

A great example of the sort of program that enriches student life at John XXIII College is the Mock Trial competition. Last night two of the College teams aptly named Compassion and Conscience were in action at the Supreme Court. (See full "Magis" article below.)

A group of about 60 parents gathered on Wednesday night for the first in a series of Digital Citizenship Seminars. Expertly facilitated by Mr Brad Tyrrell and Ms Louise Scharf, parents gained an understanding of the complex world of technology that is integral to the lives and learning of adolescence. Parents are quite often very confused and frightened by technology but both our presenters welcome queries by phone, email or in person. Our thoughts and prayers are with the parents and students involved in the bus crash in Switzerland. We prayed at this morning's 8.00am Mass for them and the rescue workers, and I ask you to do the same.

Happy St Patrick's Day to All!

God's power to guide me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to teach me,
God's eye to watch over me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to give me speech,
God's hand to guide me,
God's way to lay before me
Christ in hearts of all who love me,
Christ in every eye who sees me.

Together, let us Seek Justice
