Dear Parents,

Today the Junior Primary classes gathered together to celebrate Mass. Special thanks to Miss Carrello, Miss Alexander and Year 2B for preparing this lovely liturgy.

Congratulations to our Year 6 students for organising today's Monster Cake Stall and a big thank you to everyone for supporting this fund-raising project. The students raised over $1,200 for Project Compassion - an amazing effort!

Our 'Roar and Snore' Year 5 Zoo Camp experience was 'zootastic'! During this unique experience the Year 5B students solved clues to discover the identity of an endangered species, learnt about ways to help save threatened species and their habitats, bravely ventured out into the night with Zoo supervisors to discover Zoo life after dark, prepared treats for some animals to enjoy for breakfast, slept soundly (even though we could hear the roar of the lion, the call of the gibbons and Mr Edwards snoring!)

The Zoo Camp was a fantastic experience to be involved in and we thank Mr Edwards, Miss O'Connor, Ms Allen, Mrs Purcell for being such great zoo supervisors. We also thank Mrs Philpot for all her hard work behind the scenes. The students from 5G now need to get their sleeping bags ready for their Zoo Camp next Wednesday, March 18th.

It is wonderful to see that so many families supported the Family Picnic last Saturday. Special thanks to Kristen Serra, Paula Hackett and Ric Del Pizzo who put so much time and effort into organising this family social event. We also thank Fr Jamie Calder SJ for officially blessing our new St Francis Xavier playground. A big thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers on the night - a great time was certainly had by one and all!

Our Parent Interviews are scheduled from Monday 23 March to Thursday 26th March. These interviews are a core part of our reporting process and provide the opportunity for teachers and staff to have valuable conversations and continue to work in partnership for the benefit of the children. It is essential that all parents book an interview time with teachers - more information will be sent home from class teachers.

Tomorrow, John XXIII College is hosting its annual Open Day. This is an ideal opportunity for Primary parents to meet Secondary staff and view Secondary facilities. The Secondary students are going to be tour guides and look forward to showing you through the various departments. Miss Allen, Ms Joyce and I will be in the Early Companions Centre and would love the Primary families to come and visit us too!

Kind Regards,

Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary
