Around the Primary
Dear Parents
This week our students have been taking us on a prayerful journey through Holy Week. The Year 6 students have led us through Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and also the sharing of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday. Today Year 5G and student representatives from other classes helped us to experience the Stations of the Cross in a meaningful, prayerful and reverent way. Thank you to the teachers for preparing the students so well for the coming Easter celebrations. As Holy Week occurs in the first week of school holidays this year, I encourage all families to participate in their Parish celebrations for Easter.
Congratulations to our Year 6 Interschool Basketball teams who competed yesterday in the IPSHA Basketball competition at Willetton Basketball Stadium. Our teams were highly competitive over the six rounds. Mr Alderman was very impressed with our students' attitude, dedication, sportsmanship and behaviour. The way our students give of their best always makes us immensely proud. Thank you to Mr Alderman for facilitating the training program and to all parents and students who supported the after-school training commitment. Our appreciation is extended to Jaqui Fry for her assistance at this carnival.
The Canonisation of Good Pope John is an exciting time for our College community and all families are invited to be part of the worldwide celebrations. Our celebrations will begin with a historic Mass in the St Louis Sports Centre. This will be followed by an Italian-themed Carnevale, concluding with fireworks at 7.30pm. We are encouraging everyone to wear the Italian colours of red, green and white and come along and enjoy the festivities. More details are available on the College website.
Please note that next term the first day back for students is Tuesday 29th April .On Monday 28th April will see the staff participating in a variety of curriculum workshops.
Thank you to everyone in our community for a very successful term at John XXIII. As I walk around the Primary School I continually see students who are happy and engaged with what they are doing and this is important for us all recognise and to celebrate! Keep up the great work next term everyone!
I wish all families a safe, happy and holy Easter filled with family, time for reflection and prayer and relaxation.
Kind regards
Antoinette De Pinto
