Primary News

Dear Parents

Welcome back after the long weekend. I hope that you all enjoyed the break from school routines and have had the opportunity to relax, refresh and celebrate WA Day with family and friends.

Winter is here! It is that time of the year when the season change brings winter colds and flus that spread easily and filter through the school community. It is important to keep your child at home when they are unwell to ensure that they recuperate and get over their illness before returning to school. We look forward to your cooperation in this area.

Thank you to Mrs Young and the students from Year 3G for the work that they put into preparing today's lovely Mass. They were able to share with us their learning in Religious Education in a prayerful and meaningful way. Congratulations to baby Nicholas (Ashleigh Tudori's brother) who was Baptised in front of family and Ashleigh's classmates. It was a wonderful experience for our primary community.

The Pope's Picnic Lunch last Friday was a huge success. Due to the generosity of the John XXIII Community many boxes of groceries have now been delivered to the St Vinnies and to the St Patrick's Soup Kitchen. Donations of coffee, tea and milo were also given to the Sisters' Place in Fremantle. These worthy organisations were very grateful for the donations.

Miss Coniglio, Mr Casey and Mrs Purcell are currently preparing our Year 6 students for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Fr Gaetan will be the celebrant at the Confirmation ceremony at St Mary's Cathedral on Sunday 1st July at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to attend! Please pray for the candidates and their families over the next few weeks in the lead up to this special day.

Since the beginning of the year, Mrs Morell has being doing lots of work behind the scenes towards the Year 3 musical, 'The Peace Star'. Rehearsals have been taking place after-school and also during class music lessons for this musical performance. I have had the pleasure of previewing a few scenes and it is very rewarding to observe our students engaged in these rehearsals with so much eagerness, energy and enthusiasm. The musical is definitely going to be very entertaining. All families are invited to attend this musical on Tuesday 4th September. Please mark this special event on your family's calendar. Information regarding ticket sales will be available later in the term.

Kind regards
