Live Simply Day

On Friday 18 March we held the College's first Live Simply Day.

The aim of the day was to raise awareness for people living in poverty by highlighting ways that we can live a more simplified life such as shorter showers and riding to school. The 320 students from the secondary school who participated received a barley sugar lolly for recess and bread and butter at lunch.

Each student was encouraged to invite friends and family to sponsor them for their efforts. Amazingly, with all the participation from students and support from sponsors we raised nearly $6,000 on the day for Caritas Australia.

Koolyangarra had the highest participation rates as a house and Ward house won the Tippy Tap competition, judged by Mr Henderson.

We would like to thank Mrs Lumley for the early morning mass and Mr Thompson for creating a lovely lunchtime atmosphere. A big thanks also to our fellow SRC members and the teachers who supported us.

We hope the Live Simply Day continues to flourish in the years ahead and that our almsgiving brings hope to many communities who are supported by Caritas Australia.
