Around the Primary

Dear Parents

The students are getting very excited about the Twilight Swimming Carnival next Thursday, 3 March. We hope all parents can come along and support this sporting event.

It is important to note that all Pre Primary - Year 6 classes start at 11am on Friday, 4 March. Our 3 year old Pre Kindy sessions will still run from 9 - 11.30am on this day.

Students in all Australians schools in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be participating in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). They will be assessed in language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation), writing, reading and numeracy. These tests are scheduled for Tuesday, 10 May until Thursday 12 May. Information brochures have been distributed to Years 3 and 5. Extra brochures are available from the front office.

John XXIII is a great community and it is hoped all families will support the following events:

  • Years 3 - 6 Twilight Swimming Carnival, Thursday 3 March 2016
  • Open Day, Saturday, 12 March 2016
  • Easter Family Picnic, Saturday 19 March 2016

Please mark these special events on your family calendar.

May your journey through Lent continue to provide you with many opportunities to be grateful for the small things, to pray for the needs of all those experiencing difficult times and to be generous in your giving.

Kind regards

News from Anne Murphy-Primary Counsellor
I hope everyone is settling happily back into the rhythm of school after the initial shock of making lunches and juggling after school activities. It can take a little while for most of us to readjust to a new year and for the children to adjust to a new classroom, new teacher, new expectations and some re-jiggling of friends. As I go around the school, the children seem to be settling well and looking forward to a successful year ahead. If you have any concerns about your child please don't hesitate to contact me by email or phone 9383 0469.
