Around the Primary
Dear Parents
Our Grandparents' picnic held on Tuesday was a great community event. The children were so excited and proud to show their Grandparents around their learning environment. Thanks to all who made the effort to come along and then stay on for the picnic lunch.
Congratulations and thank you to all the instrumentalists, band members and singers and, of course, their teachers and tutors who did an outstanding job entertaining the huge crowd. Their performances were very much enjoyed and appreciated by all of us.
There was a very pleasing turnout of parents at the iPad Information Meeting to discuss the implementation of 1 - 1 iPads for children in Years 5 and 6 next year. Many excellent points were raised and this was followed by a fruitful discussion. I remind all parents that there is valuable information contained in the 'Frequently Asked Questions' document on the College Website. Please take a few minutes to look through this information. Our aim is to make the very best possible use of this technology and to do so in a manner that is most conducive to enhancing the educational outcomes of the children in a safe manner. |

Around about this time each year decisions are made regarding class placements for the following year. As all teachers at John XXIII College are professional and of an excellent standard, children will receive a high quality of education no matter which class they are placed in for the new school year. Teachers spend a lot of time and give great consideration to the placement of children. Every effort is made to place children where it is felt they will have the greatest opportunity to succeed. Consideration for the placement is made using the following criteria:
- Academic ability
- Friendships
- Gender balance
- Behaviour
- Special circumstances eg twins
Meeting new and different people is a fact of life and it is our role as parents and teachers to support children through change rather than protect them from it. All children will meet their teacher for 2013 on Monday 3rd December between 9.45 - 10.40 am. Please note, parental request can only be met in exceptional circumstances and letters requesting a particular teacher does not constitute an exceptional circumstance. Finalised class lists will be provided to families on 3rd December. Individual replies to requests and early notification of class lists will not be provided. I ask you to trust that the class your child is going into next year is one in which they will thrive.
Kind Regards
Antoinette De Pinto

Special thanks to all the parents with children in Years 1, 2, and 3 for displaying their 'drive thru' name cards. This assists the teaching staff to locate children quickly and helps to ensure an efficient flow of traffic through the 'loop'. If you did not receive a surname card or require an extra card, please email Cath Philpot on philpot.catherine@johnxxiii.edu.au |
