Around the Primary
Dear Parents
We are in full swing for our Interhouse Cross-Country carnival on Tuesday 20th August. The students are thoroughly enjoying their early morning training sessions with parents and staff. Please mark the carnival date in your diary as we look forward to wonderful support from our College community.
This week we commenced 'Founders Time'. Over the next three weeks the students will learn more about the stories of our three founders, namely St Ignatius, Blessed Pope John XXIII and Venerable Mary Ward.
On Wednesday we celebrated the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola. It was a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to gather in the new gym for a Prayer Assembly. This morning Fr Joseph Sobb SJ, Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Nedlands came and visited our Year 3 students. A sincere thank you to Fr Joseph for sharing his knowledge about St Ignatius with the students and also for helping us to pray the Examen.
Next week all classes will be learning about our next founder, Mary Ward.
Next Monday (5th August) and Tuesday (6th August), the Year 5 students will be completing the Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education (WAMSE) assessments. These assessments measure the performance of students in Science and Society and Environment. Parents will receive these results later in the year.
Our Primary Dancers will be performing at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre tonight - we wish them every success.
We hope to see many parents and friends at our next Primary Assembly on Friday (9th August). This assembly is being prepared by Mr Casey and Year 6B
Kind regards
Antoinette De Pinto
