Around the Primary

Dear Parents

Welcome back to Term Two!

I hope you all enjoyed a very Happy Easter and managed to have some quality family time over the holidays. The staff are well rested and looking forward to a productive term of teaching and learning with your children.

This term we welcome Miss Stephanie Figueira as our new Year 2 teacher.

It was fabulous to see so many Primary families turn out for our Canonisation Carnevale on Sunday afternoon. These special events are a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate as a whole College Community.

Through our lovely liturgy with Bishop Don Sproxton we came together in joy and thanksgiving to celebrate the Canonisation of Pope John XXIII. Bishop Don reminded us all that our College has a wonderful patron in John XXIII and how he sets a wonderful example of 'humility, prayerful mindfulness and humanity'.

The celebrations continued in the gym and pavilion and the young and the not so young shared some great dance moves. Everyone was delighted to see the fireworks light up the skies over Mount Claremont to display our pride of this great new saint, our patron 'Pope St John XXIII'.

A big thank you to the staff and students for preparing the fantastic displays in the gym.

Congratulations to Mrs Allen, the Primary Singers, the Secondary Choir and the talented musicians for their contributions.

Special thanks to all the parent volunteers for assisting on the night.

Sarah Fitzhardinge (May and Ruby Verleg's mum) kindly summed up the Carnevale in the following message, 'We all loved it! Loved the Mass, loved the choir, loved the band, LOVED the glow in the crucifix, loved the pizza, and absolutely loved the fireworks! It was a brilliant night. A huge thank you to all the staff that made it happen.'

An important reminder, all Mothers are warmly invited to our Mass for Mothers followed by morning tea in the Exhibition Centre next Friday 9th May.

Kind Regards,

Antoinette De Pinto
