Neil Van Herk - Sustainability Coordinator

One of the roles of the Sustainability Captain is to highlight environmental issues and promote action across the School community towards fixing a broken world. Ruby has done a fabulous job this term promoting sustainability across the School community.

A big thank you goes out to all those ECOWARRIORS who supported Dave's Day for Clean Up Australia Day in March. We had 87 students register and give up their time during lunch to help clean up the School. A huge thank you to Mr Thompson for MC-ing and providing awesome music for the event.

This term a group of interested students have formed an environment club that meet behind B8. They have so far been involved in working with the gardener, Peter, to harvest and grow plants and more recently have used collected flower heads to grow yellow marigolds to be planted around the school. They will be involved in a variety of conservation activities as the year goes by.

Students gathered on the Chapel lawn at lunchtime on Friday to show their commitment to Earth Hour by meeting together as a group to show their support. Students signed up to show their support for Earth Hour and committed to being part of this global event on Saturday night.

We look forward to Term 2 and working with everyone on sustainable activities.
