Good morning all,owen.jpg

Yesterday, we were advised of the very sad news of the passing of Owen Burke (Year 12, 2015). Owen had been fighting cancer and was receiving outstanding love and support from his family and the wider community.

The Burke family wish to let the John XXIII College community know that their beloved son died peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family. Owen was a wonderful son to Florence and Ray and sister to Ruth (Year 10 Ward). Florence is well known to many at John XXIII College through her role as a Literacy Support teacher in the Primary School.

The Burke family has mentioned that many of Owen's happiest times were spent at John XXIII College where the most wonderful of friendships were fostered. It is a credit to the class of 2015 for the outstanding care and friendship that was afforded to Owen.

The family is being well supported by friends in Perth and they have had many visits from family from Ireland in the past weeks. Fr Wilson, Antoinette De Pinto and Kylie Allen visited the family yesterday.

In times of grief the prayers, love and support of our very strong Catholic community will be of great comfort to the Burke family.

I would like to share an Irish blessing:

During Holy Week, let us hold Florence, Ray and Ruth in our prayers. Owen now enjoys the fullness of eternal life.

May he rest in peace.
