Year 9 Society and Environment
Overview:
The main aim of the Society and Environment course is to develop the skills, understandings and values that will enable students to participate in a more informed and effective manner in today's society.

Unit 1 Overview-The Modern World & Australia (1750-1918)
Making a Better World Movement of Peoples (1750-1901)
Making a Nation
World War 1
Unit 2
Physical - Biomes & Food Security
Human - Exploring Interconnections & Engagement with Asia
Assessment:
Each unit will undertake the following types of assessments and weightings:
Skills: 30% Unit 1 - two assessments of 15% | Research: 30% | Minor Work: 10% | Examination: 30%
Examinations will take place at the end of Semesters One and Two and will cover key content of the unit or units covered in that semester.
Reporting
An interim report on class work and behaviour will be issued towards the end of Term 1. The achievement for the unit will be reported as a College A - E grade. In addition, the student's approach to class work and behaviour will be reported via the usual key performance indicators.
Student Expectations - Homework
Students will be expected to complete approximately 90 minutes of homework each week. This time should be spent consolidating material covered in class as well as any assigned tasks.
