Facilities Manager

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, an energetic and collaborative approach with a proven track record in Facility Management. Duties will include the supervision of 10 Grounds and Maintenance Staff, maintenance programs, management of contractors and capital work projects.

Primary Objectives:

To co-ordinate and provide property and maintenance services to the College, operating within the guidelines of practical budgeting and ensuring a safe and attractive school environment. Performance must be consistent with and supportive of the ethos, aims and objectives of the College.

Specific Duties:

Building and Property Maintenance

  • Maintain buildings, fixtures and fittings in a serviceable and attractive condition and in accordance with OH&S guidelines.
  • Co-ordinate the work of employees engaged in property and maintenance duties.
  • Manage outside contractors for required purchases or repairs.
  • Participate in Occupational Health and Safety committees, and ensure compliance with OHSE guidelines.
  • Prepare a preventative maintenance programme covering all aspects of property and maintenance.
  • Maintain current records of the location of utility service lines - gas, water, electricity, phone, etc.
  • Prioritise and address the day to day requests for maintenance from the staff.

Grounds

  • Prepare and maintain playing fields, passive and recreational areas and gardens.
  • Co-ordinate the work of employees engaged in grounds duties.
  • Manage outside contractors for required repairs and maintenance of grounds and gardens.
  • Establish and maintain pedestrian walkways, retaining walls, service roads and other traffic areas around the school.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of signage.
  • Maintain the grounds equipment and reticulation infrastructure.

Cleaning and Security

  • Exercise overall responsibility for the daily security of the premises.
  • Train and supervise the Cleaning Staff.
  • Manage the cleaning, waste removal and security contractors.
  • Cyclical cleaning jobs -carpets, vinyl floors, pathways, windows, etc.

Capital Works

  • Assist the College Council through its Property and Planning Committee to plan, cost and develop new capital works.
  • Liaise with the College architect, local government and other statutory bodies in respect of new capital works.
